South Sound is a region southwest of Seattle and located south of Puget Sound. The cities that make up the region include: Tacoma, Olympia, parts of Bremerton, Sumner, and Puyallup. Renting apartments in South Sound gives you access to lots of activities and the large bustling city of Seattle.

Many cities in the South Sound region share important events and amenities. The annual Daffodil Parade originated in Puyallup but now shares the traditions with Tacoma, Sumner and Orting. The parade features mostly daffodil themed floats and marching bands from local middle and high schools.

In Tacoma there are several institutions of higher learning including the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma Community College, and the University of Washington Tacoma. The city also has a museum district that features the Museum of Glass, the Washington State History Museum, and the Tacoma Art Museum. One of the largest urban parks in the country is also located in Tacoma; it is called Point Defiance Park, which includes Owen Beach, the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, and several other attractions. The Tacoma Rainiers, a Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners play in Tacoma at Cheney Stadium.

The capital of Washington is Olympia. This city is the cultural center of the South Sound region. Located within the city limits, you can find The Washington Center for the Performing Arts which strives to provide support for local performing arts groups and the Capital Playhouse which is a community theater. About an hour north of Olympia is nearby Bremerton, where you can cross the Puget Sound to Seattle via an hour long ferry ride. Harborside Fountain Park is a beautiful place to visit on the waterfront of Puget Sound. Bremerton is also host to the annual Blackberry Festival which is a three day celebration, Fun Run and Bike Race.

Sumner and Puyallup are adjacent to one another.  Sumner has a commuter rail station that connects it to Seattle and Tacoma. Puyallup is well known in the South Sound region for having numerous antique shops and for its annual fair. The Puyallup Fair draws over one million visitors a year making it the largest annual state fair in the state of Washington.
